before i was born, and my father was still in the navy, my parents and sister all lived in japan for two years. my mother returned home with an obsession for tacky japanese reproduction items....

it's funny, when i still lived at home, I really disliked the "oriental" decor of our house...now as I'm older, I find myself strangely drawn to things with an asian feel.

these are some vintage christmas bulbs she had...they no longer work, but I think they're charming in a bowl on the shelf...

The first Christmas presents arrived...from my niece and nephew in California. As always, the packaging is lovely - she said he picked it out. They are so thoughtful to always think of Katie and I at the holidays...
